The Shape of Enrichment is an online, blog-format publication that is available to our Shape of Enrichment subscribers. (Prior to 2014, it was a quarterly printed publication). The Shape of Enrichment focuses on environmental enrichment for animals and includes feature articles and content geared toward zoo keepers, animal care technicians, veterinarians, researchers, and others involved in animal care. Although our roots remain among zoological institutions, articles about enrichment for animals housed in other institutions (e.g. sanctuary, shelter, rehabilitation facility, wildlife park, research facility, farm, pet) are also appropriate.
The Shape of Enrichment is intended to be an open forum for the sharing of ideas. It attracts a worldwide audience, and we currently have subscribers in nearly 40 countries. Our authors include keepers, curators, veterinarians, volunteers, enrichment and animal welfare researchers and students, and others from many types of animal facilities. We publish articles about the practical building/making and implementation of specific enrichment techniques and items, and we have also published articles about enrichment theory, processes, and programs.
We are always seeking new articles for publication in The Shape of Enrichment to share as much information with the animal care community as possible. If you or anyone you know has an enrichment idea to share, we would be pleased to consider it for publication.
